Document 4

Document International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is pleased to announce Document 4.

Programming this year’s festival was extremely difficult due both to the high quality of work received, and the fact that the number of submissions for 2006 more than trebled - a reflection, we hope, of our belief that Document now provides the main platform in Britain for many films which attempt to engage with issues crucial to our time.

This has always been a two-way dialogue: not only do we aim to bring films from around the world to challenge, provoke or inspire a local audience, but to support local filmmakers whose work has international resonance.

We would hope therefore that you find something in our screening programme that will stay with you long after the festival is over.

We invite you to what we are convinced is a rich, diverse, and intriguing group of films - to take part in the discussions, the music events, and meet with the many filmmakers, campaigners and others who will be in attendance. It isn’t always easy viewing. But it is essential viewing.
